How Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump Technology Works

Liquid ring vacuum pumps are rotating positive displacement machines that use a liquid (typically water) to create vacuum in industrial processes.

Simple Operating Principle

  • An eccentric rotor spins inside the pump casing
  • The seal liquid forms a rotating ring along the casing
  • This creates sealed chambers that trap and compress gas
  • Gas enters through the inlet, is compressed, and exits through the discharge

Frequently Asked Questions

A liquid ring vacuum pump is an industrial vacuum pump that uses a rotating liquid (typically water or another seal fluid) to create compression and vacuum.Inside the pump:
  • An eccentric rotor spins within a casing
  • The seal liquid forms a rotating ring
  • This creates sealed compression chambers that move gas and generate vacuum
These pumps are widely used because they are reliable, tolerant of wet and dirty gases, and suitable for harsh process conditions.
